About the project
KPN Corporate Market (KPN) created a new data center at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (HTCE). KPN has long been active in the sustainability of its data centers focused specifically on the principles of Cradle to Cradle (C2C). On behalf of KPN William McDonough made a conceptual study of the C2C® fitting in data centers. The data center at the HTCE is the first concrete expression of this.
Data centers for their production have a great need for electricity and cooling. As a result, there must be a large amount of waste heat to be discharged to the environment. For KPN this is unacceptable as a basis whereby the new data centers now being built in an environment where this heat to 100% can be exploited by eg houses, offices, businesses. KPN wants to be energy-producing for the area and the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven is a suitable recipient of this heat.
Defined goals and desired results
No wast of heat to the environment but 100% usefull delivery of energy (warmth) in benifit for the surrounding buildings of the datacenter
